Match 43 of VIVO IPL 2018 turned out to be yet another humdinger from the league stage. Chasing 177 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR) were kept in the hunt courtesy Jos Buttler’s 95*. He single-handedly took the home side to victory, and kept their playoffs’ hopes alive at Sawai Mansingh stadium, Jaipur. In the post-match conference, skipper Ajinkya Rahane admitted of being nervous due to the constant shift of momentum in the end overs but believed in Buttler. In addition, Rahane credited Krishnappa Gowtham and Stuart Binny’s vital cameos will helped in the win.

Rahane stated, “As I always mention, this format is always about giving your best everyday. Buttler’s consistent batting at the top is magnificent. KG’s (Gowtham) knock was crucial. I was nervous, but sometimes you have to control your emotions as a captain and we all had a feeling that Buttler will take us through. The way he handled the spinners was too good. He’s (Gowtham) learning a lot, spending time with the experienced players and Warnie (Shane Warne).”

RR face Mumbai Indians (MI) in a mouth-watering encounter at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Sunday. Both sides are tied on 10 points, and looking to challenge Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the playoff spots. In this context, Rahane had a practical approach. “It’s all about taking one game at a time right now. Now going to Mumbai, we all know how dangerous a side they are,” stated Rahane. He even thanked Rajasthan Royals and Rajasthan government for supporting the cancer awareness campaign as RR sportied a pink-cyan-burgundy jersey for the cause.

RR are currently sixth, but are tied on 10 points with MI and KKR. RR, however, lag on net run rate. Meanwhile, CSK remain at the second place.
