Manchester United missed out of Neymar in the summer with the Brazil international leaving Barcelona for a new challenge with PSG.
The 25-year-old has been a huge hit at the Parc Des Princes, scoring 20 goals from 22 games and establishing a stunning relationship with the likes of Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe.
However, talk is already rife he could leave at the end of the season with reports in recent days suggesting Manchester United may be about to chance their arm with a bid in the region of £440million.
And Spanish outlet Don Balon say the Red Devils want to sign Neymar as they think he could be the key to Mourinho landing the club the Premier League title.
That prize is likely to evade them this season.
Manchester City currently have a 15-point lead and Pep Guardiola’s side are unlikely to let that slip.
Even if United gazump their rivals by signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, it will not impact that race.
But Don Balon say the Red Devils feel landing Neymar would propel them to bigger things next term.
United currently have an impressive strikeforce consisting of the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku.
But they have lacked a cutting edge at times this season and Neymar would go a long way to solving that problem.
However, United are not the only club interested in snapping him up.
Real Madrid have long harboured hope of signing him and Los Blancos are ready to challenge United if given any encouragement.
Neymar could replace Cristiano Ronaldo at the Bernabeu, with the Portugal international likely to leave at the end of the season.
