MAN UTD TRANSFER NEWS LIVE: Mourinho eyes one more deal, £130m spent
Jose Mourinho’s plan
06:00: Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has relieved the pressure on executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, saying he won’t be too disappointed if a fourth new arrival isn’t secured.
He said earlier this month: “So the squad is good and, as I told a few months ago, I was hoping for four players to improve the squad and the club did a fantastic job, absolutely fantastic, by getting three of them, which is difficult in the crazy market where we are now.
“To get three out of four, I thank the club for that. I would be happier if they gave me four of four but they did a great effort for me.”
05:55: Gary Neville says Manchester United have already signed their fourth recruit in Zlatan Ibrahimovic… and they aren’t desperate to add to that list.
“I don’t think Man United will be desperate to do any business,” he told Sky Sports.
“Jose Mourinho has been quite honest in saying he wanted four [signings] and he’s got three plus Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
“I think he wanted a wide player but I don’t think he’ll be too concerned because of the form of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Anthony Martial and Juan Mata.”
05:45: Welcome to our Manchester United transfer news live blog on deadline day. United have already spent £130million on three signings this summer.
Romelu Lukaku, Victor Linedlof and Nemanja Matic have all arrived at Old Trafford.
And in a boost for the club Zlatan Ibrahimovic has signed a contract and will begin playing against in January.
Jose Mourinho originally wanted four new players this summer and is hoping one more deal can be secured today.
