Golf has so many obscure rules, it’s hard to keep track or for pros to know what to do in certain unique situations.
So you can’t blame Bryson DeChambeau for asking for a ruling when there’s a “pretty big bug” hanging out on the back of his ball during the first round of the OHL Classic in Mexico. You don’t want to take a penalty by moving your ball even a hair to get rid of the intruder.
But DeChambeau gingerly got rid of the critter — as PGA Tour VP of Rules Slugger White looked on — by gently nudging it with a tee until it left, so problem solved.
But still, don’t you love a sport in which you need an official to tell you what the heck to do about a bug on your ball?
