Real Madrid transfer news: La Liga expert discusses chances of late transfer deals | Football | Sport

The transfer window shuts tomorrow night and Real’s top target Kylian Mbappe appears set to join PSG.

Real are short of centre-back options with Nacho and Casemiro having to fill in for a disappointing 2-2 draw against Valencia.

But despite the player shortage, Gibson can’t see Real making any late moves.

He said: “I think it’s late in the day now. I’d be surprised to see any new players coming into Real Madrid.

“On Sunday night, you felt if Pepe had been given another year he would have played.

“Saying that, I wouldn’t sign another central defender.

“The interesting one was Diego Llorente leaving to Real Sociedad. I know they got a few million for him but he was one who could play in centre-midfield with Casemiro – although he’s more of a centre-back than Casemiro.

“But it’s Zidane’s choice. He had the final say on players who left and he’s chosen to go with four centre-backs and he thinks that’ll be enough to get through this season.”
