Birmingham Rum Festival is coming this summer

This summer Brummies can celebrate all things rum.

Birmingham Rum Festival is back at The Cuban Embassy bar in Moseley.

The two day event will run on Saturday, June 30 and Sunday, July 1. As well as exotic rums and signature rum cocktails such a Pina Colada and Dark and Stormy, there will be live music. Revellers can also tuck into Caribbean and South American street food to help line stomachs. Wristbands are available from £14.91.

The Cuban Embassy stocks more than 130 rums and festival-goers can enjoy rum tasting in its two indoor rum bars, open air courtyard and outdoor terrace.

A spokeswoman told Birmingham Live: “The Cuban Embassy’s resident live band will provide the soundtrack of Latin, salsa and reggae for consumers to jam along to. To create a complete Cuban carnival atmosphere, Caribbean and Latin American inspired street food will also be available to fuel the party.”

The line-up of exhibitors includes classic rums such as Appleton Estate’s, Wray and Nephew and event sponsors Atlántico, which handcrafts its carefully blended rums in the Dominican Republic.

The spokeswoman added: “The newest rum on offer is the Peaky Blinders rum, which only launched at the end of 2017. It should prove a hit as not only does it give a nod to the historic Birmingham street gang, but its careful selection of spices create notes of vanilla, nutmeg and orange for a truly warming blend of flavours.”
