That’s the view of German football expert Lee Price.
The Schalke star, 22, has impressed for the Bundesliga side this season.
Goretzka has netted four goals in 11 appearances for Schalke this time out.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months, with Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal all tracking the Germany international.
And Price says Goretzka will snub interest from the Prem to join Bayern Munich, but he initially wanted to join Liverpool.
He said: “I’m hearing today that Goretzka will join Bayern Munich and the move will be announced in the New Year.
“Although now it appears he’s made his mind up on Bayern, which is a genuine blow for Klopp”
“That’s a little bit of a surprise for me given, for long periods, Liverpool were leading the race to land him.
“He is available on a Bosman free next summer and was swaying towards making Anfield his destination.
“In England, Liverpool were his favoured choice unless Pep Guardiola swooped, which he hadn’t.
“Klopp earmarked Goretzka to play alongside Naby Keita, who will also arrive in the summer, with Emre Can expected to leave for Juventus at the end of the season.
“He had been ordered to decide his future in the coming days by Schalke – who have offered him a bumper new deal – opening the door for a January move, too.
“Goretzka was initially unconvinced by Bayern’s approach, given their managerial uncertainty, while Barcelona’s packed midfield could put him off the Nou Camp.
“Although now it appears he’s made his mind up on Bayern, which is a genuine blow for Klopp.”
Goretzka is out of contract at the end of the of the season.
