Indian cricket team’s skipper congratulated Sakshi Chaudhary for her brilliant show in Women’s Boxing Olympic qualifiers trails which earned her a spot in the Indian team which will travel to China in February for the Olympic Qualifiers. In the 57kg weight, Chaudhary defeated Sonia Lather by 9-1 in the Women’s Boxing Olympic qualifiers trails and advanced to the qualifiers. The number one ranked Test and ODI batsman was also impressed by Chaudhary’s spectacular show and lauded her. Sakshi Chaudhary Says ‘I Took up Boxing Because of Vijender Singh.’

“Congratulations to Sakshi Chaudhary on her brilliant performance and being selected for the #OlympicQualifiers” wrote the 31-year old cricketer on the micro-blogging website. Chaudhary is supported by one of Kohli’s organization called Virat Kohli Foundation which aims to help the rising sports stars in India by providing the best of facilities. The pugilist also got assistance from the organisation and she made impeccable use of it.

Other than Chaudhary, Simranjeet Kaur has also made his place in the Qualifiers by defeating L Sarita Devi in the 60 kg category while veteran Mary Kom got the better of Nikhat Zareen in the final round of 51 kg category. The trails for women’s boxers for the tournament will conclude on December 28 while men’s trial will take place from December 29 to 30.

Speaking of Virat Kohli, the batting juggernaut enjoyed a great time with the bat in 2019 and ended the year as the leading run-scorer. Also, he was one of the five players who were named in Wisden cricketer of the decade. The skipper will next be seen in action during the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka in January 2020.
